This caddy works with my W530, but doesn't fit well. There is a gap about 3 mm and rubber is needed for a 7mm HDD to fix it.

I have a w520 that I'm using as my work and personal laptop, along with a mobile lab. My w520 has 512SSD m4 from Crucial and 32gb of RAM. I bought the 750 hybrid HDD and am using this bay to expand my storage. It works as advertised, but keep in mind that it doesn't fit flush like the OEM DVD slot. Not really a huge deal for me personally, but others may not like that. Overall, I'm happy with the product.

I dissatisfied with this product.
First, suggested installation steps don't provide the way to safely lock HDD. The HDD may shake slightly. You can solve this problem using rubber bumpers (isn't included into package), but it's hard to use these bumpers because of adapter design issues.
Second, this adapter isn't suitable for ThinkPad W520 or W530, because in these laptops DVD slot is higher than the adapter. The adapter will work, but you will unable to lock it.
