4Nice replacement for factory adapter

I bought this unit for a Lenovo 3000 N100 computer which uses the same adapter as the ThinkPad T series (T60 through T420) and the Edge series. I chose this brand because the other off-brands (i.e., those that are not Lenovo branded) tend not to have very good reviews and because I actually saw an off-brand unit that a friend had bought for her older T61. I didn't like the build quality of that unit and it seemed to make a slight buzzing sound in operation. Not good.

Except for the label on this Anker, the adapter looks almost exactly like the standard 90W adapter sold by Lenovo. The power plug fits perfectly into the port on the computer (a problem with some other brands which make the plug a bit too small). It gets no warmer in operation than the Lenovo unit and it makes no noise. In short, I think quality-wise, this Anker unit is a top-tier substitute for the Lenovo branded unit. There is one BIG difference that any buyer should know about: the Anker has a grounded 3-prong power cord (the genuine Lenovo model does not, it's better made to be internally grounded). So, if you don't like the idea of needing to carry a heavier power cord and always being sure you have a grounded power outlet (not usually a problem if your house was built after about 1975), you should probably buy the genuine thing from Lenovo.

I will mention that it's possible to buy a Lenovo-branded unit from the Lenovo Outlet site at a reasonable price (sometimes this model is offered there, but not always), but usually they still cost about twice what this Anker unit costs. Of course, these adapters are not worth such a higher price; they are a profit-making accessory for Lenovo. I imagine they actually cost about $5 to make, so the full $80 retail price for the Lenovo unit does seem rather like gouging. But, when I needed a new adapter in a hurry (i.e., couldn't wait for the Lenovo Outlet to have it in stock), I decided to try this Anker. It was a good choice. I decided to keep it, and that's the most important validation of all.

5Exactly as advertised

This charger came in the time promised, arrived new and in perfect condition, and works fine. Not happy that the original stopped working, but perfectly satisfied with this very reasonably priced replacement.
